The Muppet Christmas Carol is one of my favorite Christmas movies. I did not expect to like it so much when I had first rented it out.

First of all, I was not sure whether the muppets would handle the timeless classic with enough reverence; secondly it is a musical, and I am not a big fan of musicals, at least

not those I see on TV.

I thought I might end up seeing something silly, of the kind I would not recommend even to kids.

Well, I am happy to say I was wrong about that!

The Muppets team did an excellent job bringing A Christmas Carol to life, and they did handle Charles Dickens’ work with care.

      Of course, changes were ...

      • made to the story, and significant ones.

Imagine (if you can) Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim played by frogs! It might sound ridiculous, but it works, believe it or not.

The story is fun to watch, and it remains profound and touching at the same time.

Michael Caine, one of a few human actors in this production, plays Scrooge, and he

manages to interact with the puppets in a most natural way.

He takes them seriously, as if they were real actors.

There is a lot of singing, of course, but I did not find it annoying.

In fact, most of the songs are very good and catchy.

I am sure kids will love this movie, and probably most adults as well.
