A lot of people love the 2003 Pixar movie Finding Nemo. I’m one of them. Nemo is a stirring story of the love between a father and a son, a relationship that seems to be missing in a lot of movies and television shows. The real hero of the story is Marlin, the dad who lost his wife and all of his babies to a horrible event in the very begining of the movie. It

is difficult to imagine how much you would cling to your sole surviving child if something like that would happen to you. So Marlin’s obsessive worrying about Nemo’s safety is not annoying. Instead, its understandable and endearing.

Marlin and Nemo are split up early in the story, with the rest of the movie following their adventures leading up the grand reunion at the end. Both adventures are a lot of fun. Nemo ends up in a ...

Marlin’s adventure has a bit more substance because of his traveling buddy Dory, voiced by Ellen DeGeneres. Yes, Dory is flighty and annoying at times, thanks to her short term memory loss that greatly detracts from her ability to assist Marlin. But still, Dory’s comic timing outweighs her annoying moments, and towards the end you can’t help but feel so

sorry for her. She is very alone, about as alone as a person, or fish, can be. She can’t remember anything and has no friends.

Finding Nemo is a great family movie with a great message of a dad doing absolutely anything it takes to be reunited with his son. This would be a great movie for dads and sons to watch together and talk about afterwards. I give Nemo a solid 9 out of 10.
