I have always had a love for baking. I think it stemmed from my mother because any time some one in the family had a birthday, every one wanted mom to make one of her cakes.

Her frosting always turned out and was to die for.

      Well, I now use the

same frosting recipe for whenever I make cakes or cookies.

It turns out so well that I nver have a problem with it.

      Here it is.

Take four cups of powdered sugar and one cup of shortening and mix them together.

Make sure that you have a deep enough bowl ...

      • or else powdered sugar will be flown all over the place.

I prefer to use an electric mixer as it mixes up better.

To the powdered sugar and shortening, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract (can also try almond extract for different flavoring) and no more than 1/4 cold water.

Mix it until it is nice an smooth.

You may also add a pinch of cream of tartar to fluff it up a little.

You can keep the frosting white or add food coloring to it to make a variety of colors.

On cakes or sugar cookies, this frosting will have you wanting more!
