The St. Croix Falls area is very pretty. The Dalles House motel sits in a bit of a valley and is in a beautiful setting. The building is one story ranch type with a large carport. The building is made of red brick with a carport that has wood shingles in the front for siding. The carport had a pointed roof with brick pillars and the arch to the front of the carport is a bit ornate. The lawn is very open and large. There are several cedar trees in the front and also shrubbery around the outside of the building. The parking lot was very, very big. As you enter the parking lot, there are several piers on which old style street lights are mounted to. Attached to these piers is a short stone which extends around the front of the property.

The lobby is quite plain but very relaxing and not overdone. The carpeting is plum with different figures and colors in it. One wall is completely white/tan brick with a fireplace in the center. To the right of the fireplace is a niche

for wood. The mantle goes above the fireplace and niche. There were a few floral arrangements on the mantle. There was a decorative metal plate on the wall next to the fireplace. There were several beams that when across the ceiling. The seating arrangement in the room was primarily done in pine with separate brown cushions. There were 5 chairs around the fireplace which were the same and 4 other chairs which were metal and brown. There was a coffee table in the center of the seating arrangement. Behind those chairs is the registration desk which is made of stained pine with what looks like a shingle roof extending over the desk. The lobby was uncluttered and simple. The staff at the registration desk was very helpful and pleasant.

Our room was very pretty. The carpeting in the room was a deep dark plum. The walls were a light figured wallpaper with multiple colors of gold, green and mauve. We had a queen size bed with a brass high poster bed frame and pull around sheer curtains on it it looked very feminine.

      • Over the bed was a floral framed print. There were other accents in the room which had this brass gold color. The bed had very pretty quilt on it. The quilt had colors of light tan, maroon and green. There were also pillow shams made of the same fabric. The bed skirt was a lighter version of the plum in the room. The bed was very comfortable and so were the pillows. On either side of the bed was a nightstand with a small light colored wood lamp. There was a telephone on the one nightstand and an alarm clock on the other. The room had a gas fake fireplace with a large mantle doily. The front of the fireplace had white tile around it. It was small yet very pretty. Over the fireplace was a large mirror with a brass frame. There was a chest of drawers next to the bathroom and a work table close to the bed. The wood of the fireplace and the furniture was the same color. The two chairs around the table were made of wood with
the seat and back cushion of the plum color. There were two high backed cushioned chairs on the left side of the bed which were of the plum color. These chairs also had an ottoman which that they shared. Behind these two chairs we a print which had a brass frame. The large window in the room had vertical white blinds with a plum valance. Next to the fireplace was a stand where the television stood on.

The bathroom was basically a cream color with white and brass accents in it. The floor was white tile with a brown tile toe kick. The sink and counter were soft white and so was the combination tub and shower. The shower curtain was off white and ruffled. They supplied us with plenty of soap, shampoo and hand and body cream. The towels were very fluffy and absorbent.

Our room was very clean and smelled really good like they had put a sachet in it, but I couldn’t find it. We were very pleased with the room and our stay. The room was not very expensive at all.
