  • I like that it comes pre-sterilized, which is very handy if you need a sterilized container in a jiffy
  • You can also attach it to an Avent breastpump, making it very convenient, as you can pump milk directly into the same container you'll be using to feed your baby
  • But if you'll be using these as bottles, I think it would be cheaper in the long run to buy reusable bottles

I use the Avent VIA cups to store breastmilk and baby foods.

I like that it comes pre-sterilized, which is very handy if you need a sterilized container in a jiffy. Then you can either reuse it (sterilize up to 4 times) or dispose it. I also like that it can double as a bottle and

a cup. You can attach an adapter (that comes with the VIA feeding set), and it becomes a bottle wherein you can attach the standard Avent screw ring, nipple and cap. You can also attach it to an Avent breastpump, making it very convenient, as you can pump milk directly into the same container you’ll be using to feed your baby. The feeding set also comes with lids to cover the cup, turning it into a storage container. This makes it very versatile. It’s also stackable. Best of all, it’s made of polypropylene, so it’s BPA-free!

However, if you’re using these to store breastmilk in the freezer, it can ...

be very bulky. Also, some moms have complained of freezer burn.

It can also be tricky to screw the adapter or lid at times. If you seal it tightly, it’ll be very hard to open. The trick is to seal it just tight enough so that milk/foods won’t spill out. Also, make

sure that when you seal it, the threads are in place; otherwise, the lid/adapter will be lopsided and liquids will leak out.

All in all, the Avent VIA cup is a great product when you want convenience. But if you’ll be using these as bottles, I think it would be cheaper in the long run to buy reusable bottles.

How to heat the VIA cups if I put the milk in the freezer?

You can warm it on gas stove. Just avoid using microwave oven. Some mothers prefer feeding refrigerated milk at the room temperature. You should also ensure that the milk isn’t heated too much. And, avoid refrigerating for long duration - more than 6 hours.
