If you ever travel to Corfu, the Greek island that you find in the Ionian Sea, between Italy and Central Greece, and you want to take a beautiful Greek traditional taste with you, I recommend you to visit ‘Ambrosia’. ‘Ambrosia’ is a small shop, decorated with taste and it’s located in the New Harbor as you enter the old City of Corfu, in Solomou 44 street, Spilia (which

      means cave in Greek).

Last summer I was on holidays in Corfu, and a few days before my return to England, I wanted to buy some souvenirs and presents for friends and family.

Making my tour in the city, I saw this small shop and entered in.

I had heard about the traditional local drink (liqueur) and the sweets of Corfu and I wanted to try them.

      They ...

      • are made of the mini tiny Japanese oranges, the koum-kouat, and they flourish only on Corfu Island.

What impressed me the most; was that each small shelf in the shop was like a different corner of Greece, with its own traditional sweets and drinks that are only made in that particular area of Greece.

‘Ouzo’ from the island of ‘Mitilini, ‘rake’ from the island of Crete, handmade ‘baklava’

from the city of Ioannina in the mainland and so many other products.

This beautiful little shop belongs to two sisters and they are really sweet and helpful.

The customer care they provide is the best you can find.

They will serve you with politeness and smile on their faces, chatting with you and answering all your questions whether you buy something or not.

They will make you feel welcome.

Thanks for clearing up that bit of information. Is Corfu known more for this though? What other islands harbor great spots for koum kouat?

The very best restaurant- Bar with the immaculate view on the beachfront is located in Saint Gordios (Aghios Gordios) 16 Km from the International Airport of Kerkyra (Corfu) . Obviously we are not talking the one in the city but in Aghios Gordios. It is right on the beach with a terrific menu, excellent service and the best and most modern, high technology devices kitchen. We recommend it.
It has a lot of awards and it is a new modern architecturally designed building.
