  • I must say, I had certain reservations about going on a birthright trip (mainly due to the fact that it's free of charge, so I assumed there was a catch), but right now, I'm very thankful that I decided to go on it
  • The only drawback of the tour is that there are so many interesting places to be seen and experienced in Israel that we had to make some sacrifices and couldn't afford to spend a lot of time in any particular place
  • Overall, in my opinion, they were successful - I'm already contemplating my next trip to Israel

I have just returned from a Birthright trip to Israel organized by Shorashim - a Jewish organization that specializes in providing opportunities for American Jewish youth to visit Israel.

I must say, I had certain reservations about going on a birthright trip (mainly due to the fact that it’s free of charge, so I assumed there was a catch), but right now, I’m very thankful that I decided

to go on it. We went to Israel for 9 days, there were about 40 people in our group, ages from 18 to 25. These 9 days have been packed with activities and travelling - there is no relaxing on the trip, that’s for certain. In a relative short period of time, we managed to see virtually every part of Israel - from Golan Heights in the ...

      • northern part to Eilat and the Red Sea in the South. The tour guide was very knowledgable, the itinerary was very well thought of, so there were never any prolonged drives without a stop and an excursion along the way.

The only drawback of the tour is that there are so many interesting places to be seen and experienced in Israel that we had to make some sacrifices

and couldn’t afford to spend a lot of time in any particular place. However, keep in mind, that this is only an introductory tour and Birthright organizers want you to come back to Israel on your own, so they show you enough to interest you, but not nearly enough to satisfy you completely. Overall, in my opinion, they were successful - I’m already contemplating my next trip to Israel!

Dear, Zuks my name is Oleg and I`m looking for my friend. There is a posibility that she was in the same group with you so could you please specify the dates when you`ve visited Israel using Birthright trip. Oh, by the way, I met her in Eilat in Dec 30, 2008

Hey Zuks, i am about to go on the trip with SHorashim in June july of this year and i was wondering about electronic appliences like mp3 player and lap top, i know they recomend not to bring lap top but if we are staying in hotel which will have internet this way i can connect with my family and let them know i am ok, so i really want to bring it with me, so i wanted to find out what has your experience been. Also another thing i wanted to ask you is how much money approximatly you recomend to bring, they will give us a 250 prepaid card but i am talking about cash for daily things and tips for guides and drivers. Thank you much
