  • It often gets called boring, or tacky or otherwise made out to be the most underwhelming of the Wally World parks
  • The feature ride, Spaceship Earth (the one inside the signature giant silver globe) is a prime example of the Epcot experience
  • I love it, but I'll admit that it is a bit geeky and sentimental
  • But I think it's hard for anyone not to enjoy attractions like Innovations, a playground of new technological advancements available to be sampled and experimented with
  • My particular favorite is the buffet in Norway probably the best authentic Norwegian food I've ever had

There are many mixed reviews written about Walt Disney World’s Epcot center, and many negative ones. It often gets called “boring,” or “tacky” or otherwise made out to be the most underwhelming of the Wally World parks. But personally, it’s my absolute favorite.

To be sure, Epcot is different from what you’d normally expect in an amusement park. It doesn’t consist of speedy thrill rides or vomit-worthy spin rides, nor does it consist of colorful children’s attractions (though you will find the

      usual costumed Disney characters here).

Epcot is a theme park like no other. It’s thoughtful, and often subtle. It appeals to the nostalgic. It’s not for everyone. But personally, I’ve always loved it for how different it is. The feature ride, Spaceship Earth (the one inside the signature giant silver globe) is a prime example of the Epcot experience: an animatronic presentation about the evolution of human communication. I love it, but I’ll admit that it is a bit geeky and ...

      • sentimental.

But I think it’s hard for anyone not to enjoy attractions like Innovations, a playground of new technological advancements available to be sampled and experimented with. There are a lot of games here, as well, and it’s a good place to chill out, let the kids run around and enjoy the air conditioning.

However, whatever you may think of EPCOT proper, the World Showcase (a series of small parks, organized around a large lagoon, that represent different foreign countries) is much

harder to dislike. This may be the best place in Disney World for reasonably-priced shopping and eating. The food is fantastic, here, so much so that it may be worth your while, if you have a park-hopper pass (a ticket that lets you go from park to park without purchasing an additional ticket), it may be worthwhile to trek over to World Showcase for meals. My particular favorite is the buffet in Norway probably the best authentic Norwegian food I’ve ever had.
