  • They got Michael Clarke Duncan playing the vivacious but vicious rhino commander (named Vachir I believe) and David Cross playing the daft-ish crane
  • Maybe do a little research to make yourself more comfortable This can be a great experience with the kids, with the storyline being the only arguably bad point, its a must see

Kung Fu Panda is a movie about a panda (no surprises there) named Po who aspires to become a kung fu warrior.

Not surprisingly enough, the new blockbuster from DreamWorks, was an enormous sucess. The usual deal from DreamWorks, high quality animation (great details), funky characters, occational gags… etc. etc.

What distinguishes this film from other DreamWorks works(unintended pun there)? Lets keep this simple, bullet point simple:

1.) The Chinese theme. With the Beijing Olympics approaching, this film will

get you hyped about the Chinese culture.

2.) Killer, and I mean Killer, cast. They got award winning actors playing even the most minor voice roles. They got Michael Clarke Duncan playing the vivacious but vicious rhino commander (named Vachir I believe) and David Cross playing the daft-ish crane. What more can you ask for? Well, along with the silk-smooth animation, they fit together like Yin and Yang.

3.) The story. Being set in a different culture makes it unique ...

      • amongst other DreamWorks productions.

However, the story is also a bad point.

I personally found the storyline a bit hard to follow. There were some unexplained references to the Chinese culture that I had to google later on my PC. This might be a bit of a put back for viewers. (i later found out that the characters’ names also meant something in Chinese) The storyline also struck me a bit strange, strange to the point that it was

        kind of silly.

        But who cares?

        Bottomline.

Its got nice animation, a great cast, is humorous, fun, occationally silly… et cetera. Enjoy all of that. Maybe do a little research to make yourself more comfortable

This can be a great experience with the kids, with the storyline being the only arguably bad point, its a must see. You go in there and expect to have a fun one-and-a-half hours
