If the USA have CSI(Crime Scene Investigation), the Philipines have its own localized version of this type of show, It is the SOCO, or the Scene of the Crime Operatives. This is a reality show that focuses on actual crimes committed with in the country, investigations and verdicts. The difference of the CSI and the SOCO is that CSI are all fictional, with fictional characters whereas the SOCO is a documentary and investigative show that pulls out

actual police files; coordinates with the local police and investigators, the show host interviews the actual family of the victims, and sometimes even the suspects and creates their story from the factual evidence and people’s testimonies.

I personally do not enjoy watching crime movies, but i am truly amazed with this reality show that focuses on helping the authorities capture the suspects and help the victimes through further interviews and investigations. Unlike the CSI, which as i ...

      • have said is fictional, all crimes are solved and all predators are captured at the end of each episode, the SOCO does not promise all their featured story are solved. More often that not, they feature the most gruesome and mond boggling stories that have happened across the country. Most of the case, are not solved. At the end of each show, they post a picture or an artist sketch of the supposed suspects for identification.

all the crimes happening around us, this show reminds us that not everyone is safe, not even at their own homes, not even at the hands of their own relatives. I enjoy this show as much as i do enjoy the CSI. But i am more attached to the SOCO, it gives me more truth, and it seems to give me more truth, not all crimes are solved and not all suspects are caught - and that’s what reality is.

If I’am not mistaken it is not just you degree that will advance you to be hired in the force but also you have to undergo basic police training. Meaning if you are in the Philippines aside for the bachelors degree you should also hold Civil Service Eligibility or its equivalent and pass both the written and physical training given by PNP to their aspiring police officers.
