Criminal Minds Season 3 Episode 4-Children of the Dark

This episode is a bit different than the usual formula. The identity of the criminals is revealed at the very beginning, but there was a good reason why the writers had made that choice.

The story tells of a series of murders, where two criminals get themselves

inside family homes by pretending to need assistance with a dead pet.

They then proceed to brutally kill the parents while making the children watch.

The children are killed with a lethal injection- a sign of mercy.

Things get complicated for them when one of the child victims survives and is able to tell the ...

      • story and identify her attackers.

It is not clear whether she lived by a lucky chance or whether one of them let her live since she reminded him of his sister Lucy.

The episode shows how an abusive past can lead to misplaces anger and revenge in the future and how one can choose to

        do things differently.

This episode was definitely difficult to watch as it involved children and dealt more with the grief and regret of the character.

The usual excitement and anticipation as well as the expected mystery were missing.

I wonder what is going on, the show seems to take a different path and not for the better.
