Looking for a nightlight for our daughter’s room we stumbled upon this plug-in light-sensitive one from Argos. It wasn’t marketed specifically for children, but it seemed perfect for our needs; a light which simply plugs into a socket that goes on when it starts to get dark, and goes off again when it starts to get light.

      For the first

two nights we were very happy with this product. It gave off a very gentle light at the appropriate times, it’s very small and unobtrusive, and as the product was under £10, we felt that it was money well spent!

On the third night the bulb went. We couldn’t believe that the bulb could run out after just two ...

      • night’s use. Luckily the pack came with a spare bulb, so we put the second one in the light and plugged it in the socket. The second bulb popped as soon as I clicked down the wall socket switch. We know that our wall socket works for all other electrical items, so we feel that it must
have been the bulbs or the nightlight itself which were faulty.

It’s possible that we were just unlucky and that others have had much more positive experiences with this nightlight, but we were obviously not very happy with our purchase and will be using the manufacturer’s three-year guarantee, which comes with the product. Based on our experience I wouldn’t recommend this light.
