Captain Blood has become my favourite book since I have first read it in my early teens. It was love at first chapter, so the speak.

The book tells a story of a man names Peter Blood, a bachelor of medicine and a former soldier during times of politic instability in England.

He is wrongly accused of treason and is sentenced to death.

      But due to a lucky

circumstance he and his friends are sold as slaves to work on a plantation in Barbados.

Peter Blood captures the eye of a young lady, Arabella, the niece of a rich, yet cruel and blood thirsty plantation owner and convinces him to pay for Blood and his best friend.

This moment affects the entire course of events and influences every action he takes in the future as a ...

      • captain.

One night when the island is attacked and captured by a Spanish ship, Blood and his friends help to liberate the island, but are not granted freedom as a reward.

Unwilling to go back they take the ship and escape the island.

And then they decide to become pirates, electing Peter Blood as their captain.

In an attempt to deserve and earn Arabella’s respect and forgiveness despite

his profession, he conducts himself with honour and dignity.

It is said the Raphael Sabatini has based his character on an actual pirate named Morgan.

The book is filled with good hearted adventure stories from the life of an amazing character that you will fall in love with.

It is really hard to put the book down.

I must have read it about two dozen times and I can never get enough.
