  • You've got Nintendo AND the Genesis to blame for that, but the Genesis definitely helped things a lot

The Sega Genesis was a truly revolutionary and powerful gaming system. Indeed, it gave gamers the ability to enjoy high speed video games and excellent quality sound for the very first time.

The Genesis also made for Sega’s direct competition with Nintendo’s blockbuster Super Nintendo console and the rivalry flourished, making both companies push one another to do

      great things.

Sega is mostly known for their legendary Sonic series, and for good reason.

The Genesis carries this tradition in full, as most of the most memorable releases were Sonic titles.

Sonic the Hedgehog became something of a mascot for Sega, with his whirlwind of adventures and unmatched speed made capable only with the help of the genesis.

      • To this day, you’ll come across fans who love the Genesis to death and won’t let go of their idea of Sonic being the greatest game to ever grace the earth.

And you know what? In some sense, they’re completely right in saying this.

Sonic brought a new flavor to platforming and encouraged other developers to break the

mold instead of basking the the safe success of Mario.

It’s thanks to the Genesis that console competition really took off so well, and we can see the rivalries of the bygone days reflected in the current era to some extent.

You’ve got Nintendo AND the Genesis to blame for that, but the Genesis definitely helped things a lot.
