  • The NES was a real pioneer to the genre, replacing the giant arcade machines before it with its sleek, smaller design and the ability to be played on anyone's home television with the proper connections, ports, and inputs/outputs
  • Indeed, it marked one of the earliest times that people could play video games on their own telvision sets, in their own homes, whenever they wanted, for as long as they wanted, without worrying about people in line behind them or the machine's tendency to grab coins if you wanted to use a continue in your favorite game

With the recent release of the Wii and Nintendo’s marketing schemes, Nintendo is easily a household name that’s thrown around like crazy: my parents even substitute “Nintendo” for “video” when they reference video games. And with titles like platforming legend

Mario, adventure game pioneer Zelda, atmospheric masterpiece Metroid, and many other staple series that are still continued to this day, how could one not respect the NES? The music is a personal favorite of mine, I just love chiptune music. The console deserves a lot more respect than it does get these days… After all, it was the pioneer.
