Gladiator (2000) is an action film directed by Ridley Scott and is rated R by the MPAA.

Gladiator is the sotry of Maximus (Russel Crowe), a Roman General who leads the forces to conquering Germania for the empire. When a dying Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris) tells Maximus that he wants him to rule Rome after hes gone, a

confrontation ensues between Maximus and Commodus (Joaquin Pheonix), the power hungry and conniving only son to the Emperor. Maximus is sold as a slave and thrown into the arena where he must kill or be killed to save himself and the empire he cherishes so much.

Ridley Scott gives us the first Roman Epic in decades that is ...

      • full of action sequences and blood. The sets throughout the film are all amazingly done and looks very much like how I would imagine Rome in this period. Crowe gives a performance that i’m pretty confident nobody could have pulled off nearly as well. Pheonix also does excellent as the villian of the film.
The fighting sequences get a little hard to make out because the camera jumps to different angles so quickly and just shows quick shots of something and then swithes to the other angle.

Gladiator is a pretty good movie, even though it didn’t impress me as much as everyone else. I recommend it to action and adventure film fans.
