  • Edward Norton is completely in his element and is very well supported by the likes of Phillip Seymour hoffman, barry prepper, brian cox etc. All in all this crime/ drama is definitely one not to be missed and my rating for it would be an 8 on 10

The 25th hour is a 2002 film based on David Benioff’s novel of the same name. Directed by Spike lee, The 25th hour is a movie about a man, Montgomorie Bogan (Edward Norton) who has been convicted for drug dealing and has to serve a seven year jail sentence.

The movie’s title denotes the one last day of freedom that Monty has before he begins his prison sentence.

Monty who is of Irish descent and settled in New York

sells drugs only to find out that he has been betrayed by someone he trusted, but doesn’t know who.

When the police arrive at his house, they know exactly where the drugs and money are hidden and this leads to him suspecting his own wife as she is one of only two people who know where he hid the stash.

Before entering prison, Monty wants to have one final night with the only two people in the world he trusts,

      • his two best friends, Frank Slattery ( Barry Prepper) and Jakob Elinsky( Phillip Seymour hoffman).

Frank is a high-risk taking bond trader while jakob is a professor of English who has no intentions of making easy money.

The friends party into the early hours of next morning when it is finally time for Monty to leave for prison.

His father (played by Brian Cox) offers to drive him there but the ending that follows is not only unexpected but gives

a brilliant twist to this highly dramatic and intense plot.

There is no doubting the directorial credentials of Spike Lee and the dialogues in the movie leave the viewer in complete awe.

Edward Norton is completely in his element and is very well supported by the likes of Phillip Seymour hoffman, barry prepper, brian cox etc.

All in all this crime/ drama is definitely one not to be missed and my rating for it would be an 8 on 10.
