Director: Michael McCullers. Featuring Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Sigourney Weaver and Steve Martin.

It is a comedy that has its funny moments, although some serious truths are hidden behind it. It is a clear cut chick flick, romantic comedy designed for some light watching. It could have been a complete waste of time if not for the way that Tina Fey has chosen to portray the character of Kate. She created a non-stereotypical image of a

very successful business woman who has finally heard the ticking of her biological clock. Kate is full of integrity, a healthy combination of optimism and realism, respect towards other people, weird as they may be, and a genuine will to do no harm. She is truly inspirational- while watching her I finally had the image in my head of the kind of woman that I wanted to be.

The story tells of a classy business woman ...

      • who had sacrificed her family forming and child bearing years to get ahead in the company. At a certain point she reaches the decision that this matter can no longer be put off and tries to conceive using a sperm bank service. When this fails, she is told that the reason is the shape of her uterus and that the chance of her conceiving are minimal to nonexistent. She then approaches a lucrative
surrogate agency and is paired with a young woman who is to carry her child, that for the lack of better words could be simply described as “white trash.” When the surrogate mother breaks up with her boyfriend she moves in to live with Kate who attempts to take care of her during the pregnancy. But their different outlooks on life create some annoyance and misunderstandings. To make things worse, the surrogate mother is hiding a terrible secret.
