Naruto is finally releasing the power of the nine tails and with chakra swirling all around him and taking on a life of its own this should be an awesome, action packed episode. Or so one would think if one wanted to be wrong.

All of Haku’s attacks are nullified by the chakra of the nine tails without Naruto having to do anything, and Naruto is so enraged by the death of Sasuke and

has lost control of his mind and body to the nine tails so his fighting style is plain and direct; punch, grab, throw, punch.

But at least he is finally winning…until Haku’s mask falls off.

Deep at heart, Naruto is a softie and his TV show is obsessed with flashbacks.

That’s right, now we get to see the history of Haku.

Haku’s childhood lasts for a good ten minutes, and aside from garnering the boy ...

      • a little sympathy from the soft hearts in the audience this setback was completely pointless and by the time it is done it is hard to even remember whether any action has taken place as Naruto has already regained control.

Haku begs Naruto to kill him, but Naruto cannot bring himself to do so.

At the same time Kakashi decides that his fight with Zabuza has to end so he can make sure that

Naruto does not completely lose control to the nine tails so he summons a group of ninja dogs, quite possibly the coolest thing to happen so far in this series of fights, and the dogs pin Zabuza down for Kakashi to make the final killing blow, just as Naruto decides to go through with ending the fight against Haku.

Brings a tear to your eye, if that’s what you want in a ninja cartoon.
