Naruto has quickly become one of the most popular anime series both in America and in Japan, although the dubbing of the series into English resulted in the show being geared towards a younger audience in America, unlike the real audience that the show was originally made for in Japan. While the first episode is quite childish, it has an air of awesome that makes it great for all viewers.

episode revolves around the clumsiness of the main character, twelve year old wanna-be ninja Naruto Uzumaki. As the episode starts Naruto is seen skipping school to graffiti the statues around the ninja village, just to go back to school and fail his ninja exam. This causes Naruto to steal a sacred scroll, which leads to him finding out the horrible truth, the soul of a horrific demon fox was sealed ...

      • inside of him. In the end he succeeds in passing his exam and is officially made a ninja.

This episode really sets the tone for the entire series and makes viewers beg for more. There is comedy, action, a ninja fight, blood, and an interesting story line beginning to develop. And all this is done in a twenty one minute long episode. There is no room for relaxation, it is just

pure story flow and character development, both of which are superbly done. This episode is the starting point of something obviously great, like the head of a raging river. There is already enough water and rapids to make the journey exciting, but it is calm and inviting enough for new viewers to feel comfortable getting their feet wet without having to dive in head first. Excellently done, and strongly recommended.
