After using a Pentax roll-film camera for many years, I was hesitant about using a digital camera. I could not fully understand the concept of taking photographs with first loading a film into the back. However, like many other people, I recognised that digital photography was the future.

After considering a few digital cameras, I decided on the Olympus C-725 - mainly because the company had always had a good reputation with 35mm cameras.

      After

using the camera for about an hour, I quickly realised that producing images really was a whole lot of fun!

With 3.0 megapixels the C-725 is ideal for beginners, and more advanced photographers alike, without being too technical. There is a choice of viewing your subject with the small screen at the back, or with the tradiotional viewfinder - which I always use, mainly through force of habit.

There are a host of programmes to ...

      • use, such as the ‘point-and-shoot’ auto programme that is ideal for those not interested in the technical side of the camera. but for those who want to take their photography one step further, they can use features such as Manual, Portrait,Shutter Priority,Aperture Priority and many others.

Personally I have used the Auto setting for many photographs, but use other featues such as choosing the film speed etc., to suit the lighting conditions.

        Downloading the images onto

your PC is simplicity itself. The camera comes with a CD which enables you to download your photos to the computer in seconds - and you can create and open separate ‘albums’ to categorise your favourites.

All in all, I would thoroughly reccommend this camera to anyone who, like me, was wary about digital photography.

And one more thing. It actually feels like a traditional camera when you use it…they have got the balance just right!
