      Nintendo has always built some great gaming machines, maybe the GameCube is excepted. I have been a Nintendo fan since the beginning, my age is showing. My first home gaming system was the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). I love the Wii and for portable gaming the Nintendo DS Lite is the best thing going today.

      The DS, which stands for Dual Screen, is externally slightly different than the original DS. It is smaller and easier to hold in the hand than the original DS.

      The biggest difference is the screen; it is brighter than the original. The colors on the Lite are more vibrant while the graphics are much crisper.

      In case you were not aware, both the DS versions are compatible with Game Boy Advance and all its’ games. That increases the game library by a factor of about 50 because there are a lot of GBA games out there.

      The DS, again both versions, have WiFi (802.11b) that allows you to game against other gamers for free.

      • When it works its ok, the key is when it works because I have had some problems with it.

        Unlike any other gaming system, the DS has a microphone for voice enable game play. Yup, you talk into the microphone and the game does what you tell it to. This voice capability is not, obviously, used in every game but you could look strange on the bus talking to your Nintendo DS Lite. There is a game or two that allows in game chatter

        using the microphone.

        If you are the type that likes innovation then the DS Lite is for you. Many of the games are not simply rip offs of the big console games, of course many are, when the designers employ the touch screen in gaming it adds to the novelty of gaming. This is maybe the only system that has innovative games.

        I will never be without a Nintendo DS Lite. If you are a gamer then a DS Lite is just the thing you need.
