This is a fairly disturbing episode and one that tends to stick with me. Every time I see it, it sticks in my head for at least a day or two.

It makes you think about people, and the lengths they go to just to continue making a few dollars off their

      fellow man.

The episode centers on a young girl named Erica who is never seen.

Erica is a fourteen year old girl with ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

She has a website and a telephone number, as well as a book that details her life.

The more Eames and Goren learn about ...

      • the girl, the more they wonder.

The girl was abused by her parents and put into foster care, and her current foster mother is the one taking care of her.

A man has been supporting her in a number of ways including paying her medical expenses.

When he demands that the foster

parent Barb let him see her, he is turned away.

The next day he is found dead and the detectives learn that he was beginning to doubt her existence.

They continue to investigate her history and begin to doubt her existence as well.

Is she real, and if she isn’t then who killed the man?
