During the first season the show struggled a little bit and that becomes clear in this episode. The episode itself features a storyline surrounding a con artist from France.

We first see a rich woman heading off to meet up with her lover for the night.

When she arrives at his hotel room though,

she finds a dead body and runs off.

Goren and Eames believe this is the con artist, but later learn that it is actually just someone who was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Our favorite duo must then fight against the wealthy elite in Manhattan, something they will do numerous ...

      • times over the rest of the season.

This is long before Goren begins showing his odd or unusual side.

Though he is later portrayed as having difficulties around people, here he has no problem talking with a rich older woman, or communicating with the press.

He actually works with the press and one specific

journalist to lure the con artist out into the open.

Since this was the early days, we also don’t see much in the way of guest stars.

Though the con artist would be probably be played by someone famous today, in this episode we only get a mediocre actor with a poor French accent.
