The Gait Icon was my first lacrosse stick and I have found it to be an excellent stick. Although it is meant for beginners, the Icon will hold out well at intermediate and expert levels of play. It is reasonably priced at around £40-50 and is well worth the money.

Mine is a soft mesh stick and after a full season it is still fine and still feels good to throw and catch with. Admittedly, the stick

isn’t the lightest out there but it offers good protection whilst cradling the ball and after playing with it for a while you will love the feel of it.

Shooting with the Icon also feels great. You can get a great shot speed with it despite its weight.

The Icon can also hold the ball well whilst ‘cranking up’. This is useful if you really want to hammer a shot at a goalie.

Groundballs with the Gait Icon are very ...

      • easy. With Gait’s patented V-scoop design, groundballs ease the ball into the pocket.

The scoop is also designed to protect the top string from fraying and in turn allowing for longer use of the stick before having to replace it. After a season of playing with it my top string is in great condition.

You can get the Icon with several different shafts. I got mine with the standard Gait 6000 Alloy which is very cheap if you want to

        buy it seperately (about £10-15).

After playing with the stick for a while, taking very heavy checks from attackers and d-poles, my shaft has held out very well. There are some dents but that is to be expected with the standard aluminum alloy.

In conclusion, I think that the Gait Icon is a great stick. I have played some great games with the Icon and recommend it to any beginner as an entry level stick or to an intermediate/expert as a reliable backup stick.
