After watching this movie I started to be a great fan of William Hurt’s acting abilities. I must say that I also observed his performance in the more recent “The Good Shepard” and it seems that Hurt hasn’t lost his touch! Unfortunately, although “The Accidental Tourist” is all about William Hurt, it was Geena Davis who

ended up winning an Oscar for her supporting role.

“The Accidental Tourist” is about Macon Leary (Hurt) who has lost a child and is devoted totally to his work as a travel guide writer. As a result he leaves his wife Sarah, a part interpreted by Kathleen Turner, alone at home to deal with their son’s lose ...

      • while he travelled. Life changes for him when his wife informs he that she is leaving him. In an unexpected manner, he meets a woman Muriel Pritchett (Davis) who is his total opposite but for some unexplained reason effects him deeply. You know what they say: opposite attract!

I particulary liked a phrase that Hurt says in

this movie It is not just how much you love someone, what matters is who you are when you are with them. An important sentence that puts together the story in this movie.

“The Accidental Tourist” is an Oscar nominated movie with a great lesson about true love. It also includes one of Hurt’s most impressive acting abilities.
