I avoided the Chronicles of Narnia for a long time because I thought it was one of those really trippy kid flicks that would end up being either really boring or so far-fetched that I’d just grow disinterested. It turns out that this movie really is far fetched. But I loved it anyway.

The story has a really neat “Alice in Wonderland” feel to it. A little girl goes

into a wooden wardrobe kept in a spare room of the house she share with her three siblings and an old professor.

When she steps inside the wardrobe, she is taken to a magical winter wonderland where she meets a faun named Mr. Tumnus.

To make a long story fairly short, her three siblings don’t believe her upon her return to “reality”—but they soon enter the land of Narnia and ...

      • realize that they are part of a prophecy to destroy the White Witch’s reign. This film is at first whimsical and sweet.

But it does grow a little brutal and scary. There isn’t any bloodshed, however.

But the violent scenes could disturb small children. In any event, my eyes were literally riveted to the screen for the entire film.

The children they have cast in this

movie are sublime, especially the little girl who plays Lucy Pevensie. She is adorable, but has an adult nature that is not precocious.

The story unfolds slowly at first. But if you can become absorbed in it early, you definitely won’t be disappointed by how the tale unravels.

This was a wonderful film. Tilda Swinton gets my vote as one of the creepiest villains in this movie.

        She’s excellent!
