The Breakers is really large place. To my understanding there were over 2000 rooms in the hotel. It is a place to stay for the more refined traveler it basically verges on excess. The Breakers was built in the late 1900’s and a place where the best of the best came to visit an exclusive place for the rich to visit.

The architecture is classic Italian and is all very detailed and over the top. The architecture is very ornate and with arched stretching lines reminds me of the great cathedrals of Europe. The lobby is glorious and extremely large. The design is early 19th century. The ceilings are huge and very detailed. There are carvings all over the place and lovely pictures on the walls. There was seating all over the place. Large antique looking chairs with in specifically designated sitting areas. They were all over the place. One thing that I immediately noticed when I walked into the lobby was how fresh it smelled. I though since the building was so big and old it smell really musty but it was very fresh and spring like even though it was really damp

      and humid outside.

Adjacent to the lobby are a large number of upscale shops. That was just sheer shopping enjoyment. The clothing was very expensive but it fit perfectly and the designs were new and fresh. The staff at the hotel were completely professional. They were there to help at any time of the day or night. Room service was fast and efficient.

Our room which was a standard suite had a separate living room and a beautiful bedroom. We did not have a water front room, but that didn’t matter much since we had such a lovely room. The room was all reproduction antique furniture. It actually looked like a room in a home rather than a room in a hotel. We had internet access, ppv movies, bathrobes, mini bar and a safe. Our bed was soft and comfortable. My husband had problems with his back - but he had no problems here. The pillows were memory foam and very comfortable. The bath room had a large tub. Everything in the room looked like it was fit for a king. The towels with extremely soft and the amenities in the room were all over the edge.

      • Spa shampoo, soap and creams. The walk in shower was exquisite. I spent a lot of time in the shower. The shower head shower felt like rain and was very relaxing. The bathroom itself was also very large. Like I said it felt more like someones home rather than a hotel.

The colors of the room were a fleshy pink. The doors and ceiling molding were white and gave a very relaxing effect. The colors were very unique and ones which I would have never matched together. The contrasting color as a lush gold. The bedspread was gold, the desk chair had gold upholstery, the chaise was a gold and white plaid. The chairs next to the window floral with a gold background. The carpeting was a flesh tone/white plaid to match the color of the room. The window in the room was huge and the drapes were luxurious. There was a pretty floral valance with pull back drapes and drapes which pull closed. The living room had all the same colors and upholstery with 2 more chairs and large sofa. There was a armoire with a TV in it. The lamps all had

white shades and there were several large floor lamps around the chairs. The room was extremely serene even though we were on a busy beach.

The property is something you would find on a resort in the Caribbean. It is a large property so it is difficult to go into everything. The setting was all very tropical. There are 3 separate pools. There are all kinds of beautiful garden paths with lovely flowers all over the place. The colors are bright and everything smells so good. It is like walking in a green house. Around the one pool are a group of very lush cabanas. Everything is set up for the extreme comfort of the guest. Even though there are lots of people here the setting is very quiet and not the least bit out of control. Since this is a upper crust property I think guests know they are expected to act a bit differently and with more control this includes the children.

The hotel itself was large but very bland. You would never know that that such luxury was hiding behind the front doors. I have never stayed in a place quite as beautiful as this.
