Soul Survivors is one of the most confusing movies ever made. Yet I still find myself watching it every few years. When I do re-watch it, I still find myself wondering what exactly happened, and feeling highly confused by the plot. Then a few months pass, and I end up watching it again.

      The movie was made during

the height of the Scream franchise, when every movie studio rushed dozens of teen horror movies into the theaters. The problem with this one is that it never quite made it to the studio.

The producers started by assembling a cast of relative unknowns with some more famous choices: Eliza Bushku, Wes Bentley, Casey Affleck, and Luke Wilson.

      • They then started filming, but began making significant changes during the filming. The film received a poor rating during testing, and more changes were made. The release date kept being pushed back further and further, until they finally just threw a finished product together and released it on DVD.

That’s sad considering that many of the actors in the

film went on to bigger and better things later in their careers. The movie itself isn’t necessarily bad, but it is very confusing. It’s clear that the ending was changed, and it’s also clear that they didn’t stop to think how everything would come together. The end result is a confusing mess that no one could really understand.
