Futurama is one of those poor shows that never really got its chance. The show was added to the Sunday night lineup on FOX, as part of its all cartoon night. It was just different enough that fans of The Simpsons and King Of The Hill could never quite warm to it, but it

did have a devoted following of fans.

The show itself centered on a guy named Frye, who worked as a pizza delivery guy. He was accidentally “frozen”, only to awake hundreds of years in the future. Gone was everything he knew, and everyone he knew. Of course he never really seemed to know anything,

      • or anyone. Frankly, Frye was a loser in the past and becomes a loser in the future.

The real highlight of the first season was the standout secondary characters. Lela is a one eyed butt kicking pilot who Frye develops a crush on. We also have the robot Bender who is nothing at all

like any robot we have seen before. Bender is more concerned with drinking and stealing than anything else. There is also his crotchety old grandfather, an annoying Jamaican business manager, and a giant crab man.

The first season wasn’t the greatest season of the show, but it did show its potential of what was about to come.
