The Island is a futurist movie directed by Michael Bay, with Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. I saw it on dvd but would have preferred to see it in the theatre. The special effects are mind-blowing and the stunts are extremely powerful.

In 2019, after a grave epidemic, mankind is now living in highly sophisticated underground cities. The survivors live under strict guard controls. At the beginning, I wonder whether they are prisoners or free individuals as all of them have identical white clothes. Lincoln Six-Echo

(Ewan McGregor) is one of the survivors. Soon, he meets with Jordan Two-Delta (Scarlett Johansson) and the two become friends and later passionate lovers.

The only thing worth living in that environment is that there is a lottery draw and the survivor who wins, obtains the right to be transferred to ‘The Island’. This is the last place on earth that has been spared from the epidemic. One day Jordan wins the lottery while at the same time Lincoln discovers something fishy going on in that ...

      • underground futurist city. This leads him and Jordan to make a shocking and terrible discovery regarding ‘The Island’. I am not going to tell you right now. It is better that you see the movie yourself. However, upon such a discovery regarding their own existence, the two of them have to run for their lives.

The movie has a number of powerful mind-blowing rebounding. I did not get bored at any time and I can guarantee that won’t as well. The performances of Ewan McGregor and

Scarlett Johansson are simply outstanding. I personally think that Ewan McGregor had one of his best roles. Michael Bay on his part proves to be one of the best directors of futurist movies.

The movie is a bit scary about controversial experiments carried out by man. I wonder whether such experiments have already taken place in private. This movie is purely fictional, but I always remember that there is no smoke without fire.
