There is a place north of Merrill called the Underdown. It is such a versatile spot. You can camp, ride you horse, swim, ATV, bike, hike and whatever. It is way back on a glacial park of Northern Lincoln County.
I have gone horseback riding up there and you can go for hours without crossing the same trail. The trails are challenging and good for training a horse and building muscles. Some of the trails are dirt and then again some are extremely rocky. Make sure you have
shoes on your horse or they will have sore feet. I love to ride back there. The trails are so stimulating there is always something to see. The trails are winding and some of them very steep. Occasionally, you will be crossing small streams and where it is steep sometimes there are washouts. So be careful!!!
There are possibly 12 campsites. About 6 of them are suitable for a truck and horsetrailer or a pull behind camper. There is a concrete block outhouse and a pump well.
