Okay when we go to places we like to visit things that are unusual to us, well while we were in our hotel in Phoenix we saw this brochure for a place called Mystery Castle. It was only around a twenty minute drive from where we were staying so we figured why not.

We went on this tour of this

unusual home; it was, built from recycled bottles, granite and bricks in 1930. It seems that the man who built it was suffering from tuberculosis and he left his wife and daughter in Seattle to come to the drier climate of Arizona. And the Mystery Castle was his tribute to his young daughter. We paid our five dollars each ...

      • to walk through this house and take a tour.

It is located near South Mountain, so like I said it wasn’t a long drive and the scenery surrounding the area was really nice. The castle contained at least 13 fireplaces, and the tour guide told us that there were 18 rooms. All rooms were decorated with southwest antiques and it

was very interesting piece of history. I was glad we made the side trip to see this place. We made sure that everywhere we went we had on walking shoes and carried bottles of water with us. The heat is extreme not matter where we went.
