Nagarjunakonda is a place in Andhra Pradesh, a state of India. It is one of the richest Buddhist site in India. This is a place which is famous and is visited by many people. One of the sights is Vijayapuri which means ‘city of victory’. Vijayapuri has a long history behind it.

Many buildings inside the city were destroyed by a fire. Nagarjunakonda is also famous for temples. In Nagarjunakonda, you can see some of India’s finest early sculptures and memorial pillars. Many of these sculptures are very old and they represent the

phase of artistic development of ancient times, probably 4000 years ago.

The other sights are the hill fort , Nagarjunasagar dam and museum. Nagarjunakonda is a place where you get a taste of ancient India. This is not a well-developed place in the modern sense. The roads are not good, transport system is not good, hotels are not clean and you do not get good food in restaurants.

But you can cover the place in one day. But if you are a person who is interested in ancient sculpture and architecture, then you ...

      • must stay for 2 or 3 days. I did not like the place because many things are lacking. The only thing I liked was Nagarjunasagar dam.

This dam is worthy to be seen. I simply cannot understand how it was built. I recommend tourists to visit this dam. I could not find a single good restaurant.

The food outlets are very dirty and flies are hovering everywhere. Streets are unclean. You can see many garbage dumps. Nagarjunakonda is not an ideal place for you if you are in search of a place with

        beautiful scenery.

This place is ideal only for those who are interested in ancient sculptures. Nothing else is interesting here, except Nagarjunasagar dam. You have also to keep in mind the bad transport system and the dirtiness of the place. You will get easily irritated if you are a person who cannot adjust to such things.

But in spite of the drawbacks, Nagarjunakonda attracts visitors mainly because of its sculptural glory. Visitors like to see the various sculptures. But personally, I have not liked the place. I do not wish to go there again.

I rate this place 4 points.
