I do not think that many people have heard of Mercara, but Mercara is a place worthy to be mentioned. Mercara is in Karnataka, India. It is 150 kms from my native place, Mangalore. It is a very beautiful place but it has not been successful as a tourist destination. The nearest airport is Mangalore airport. There are also buses from Mercara to other places.

But local buses in Mercara are very few. In other words, transport system in Mercara is not good. Mercara is an extremely beautiful place. There are many coffee estates in the place. In fact, outsiders who know

about Mercara refer it as the ‘place of coffee estates’.

The climate in Mercara is cold. In December and January, the climate is very cold. There is a waterfall called Abby falls and a government park known as Rajseat park. But everything is beautiful in Mercara. The fresh air is very soothing.

Mercara remains unpolluted because it is still a sort of farmland. Rajseat park is a beauty. From one side of the park, you can see the beautiful rolling hills. One can simply sit and watch these hills for hours and hours. Rajseat park is very near to the main bus ...

      • stand.

Abby falls is another beautiful place and is 10 kms far from the main bus stand. There are few buses which go to Abby falls. Abby falls is a wonderful spot. You have to get down the bus and walk for 10 minutes until you reach Abby falls. I had felt this walk very pleasant.

There are few hotels in Mercara because few people seem to come here. The food in the restaurants is good. I am surprised that not many come to this beautiful place. I have been to Mercara 4 times. I have not seen a single foreigner in

        Mercara.

I wonder how Mercara has remained such a isolated place. In my opinion, Mercara does not deserve to remain isolated. It deserves the attention of more and more visitors. More and more people ought to come here and fall in love with this beautiful place. I am sure that once people start coming here, it will not take time for Mercara to be developed as a famous tourist destination.

What has to be developed is the transport system. And the number of hotels have to increase. I strongly feel that Mercara deserves to become one of the most popular tourist spots in India. I will rate this place 9 out of 10.
