It is that time of year again when college basketball seems to be the buzz around town. You start to watch the games on TV and strat picking your choices for the Amrch Madness that is coming up. It is also the time that you see movies on television or the DVD that pertain to college basteball. It just goes with

      the time of the year.

We watched Glory Road today and it was a really good movie. It is about breaking the color barrier in basketball. Texas AM had an all white college team as did everyone else in the early 1960’s. It was unheard of to have a black player on a college team.

That did not deter the Hoskins ...

      • the new coach of the Texas AM team. He set out with a limited budget and a small group of trainers to go out into the country and pick up kids taht had potential, what he found was a mix of black and white players that he assembled into a working viable team.

The players had to overcome their own differences before they

were accepted by the town. They were harrassed and beaten on road trips, yet they stuckl together as a whole.

Texas AM went on to win the NAtional Tournament and came home heros. It was a great inspirational movie about acceptance and coming of age. Well done
