This is another of Terry Pratchett’s popular Discworld books, this one based upon the witches who live in Lancre. There are several other books featuring these witches, all of which are funny. This one is amusing as well, although not quite as funny. It connects well with small mentions of characters in other books.

      I enjoyed the

characters in this book. I found the vampires very interesting, and the way the vampires were trying to overcome typical vampire problems such as daylight, holy water and symbols, and garlic was funny. Especially when it all started going so badly for them and they were so very surprised. They were really well written characters.

      • Nitt and Perdita were very funny and a clever idea. The scene where Vlad is trying to figure them out is nice, but a bit dull.

The idea of the town where the vampires went to feed was quite similar to the Lottery, a short story, and very reminiscent of the idea behind it without actually playing

out the entire scene - readers are left to draw their own conclusion as to what would have happened, although it is fairly overtly pointed out.

The way the story ended was quite satisfying. It felt like it all came about as it should, and was very neat and tidy. This book was definitely one that many readers would enjoy.
