I enjoyed watching this movie directed by John Moore and shown in 2001 and has a runtime of 106 minutes. I find Owen Wilson cute.

He plays the role of a combat aviator Lt.

      Chris Burnett.

A soldier by profession but one who does not want to fight or kill somebody but just chooses to drive fighter jets instead.

When he and his co-pilot are sent on a mission, the enemies chase them, killing his colleague and he becomes difficult to rescue.

His superior, Admiral Reigart seems to be the only one who would like to set out a rescue operation for him.

Of course this is a war movie and some people have to die but the only ...

      • gross scene that I cannot forget here was when he hides himself buried under the mud along with the rotting cadavers (he even covers himself with one of those) who were mass executed by the enemies and were just left to rot in a shallow common grave.

In a way, even Owen’s character is between wholesome and comic in most movies

he has made, this time, he is a bit serious and cunning.

I like the combination of Owen and another veteran actor, Gene Hackman.

They make a good father and son tandem though they are not relatives in this movie, but only superior and subordinate.

This movie also starred Gabriel Macht, Charles Malik Whitfield, David Keith, Olek Krupa and Joaquim de Almeida.
