Drugstore Cowboy is a movie about a young man, Bob and his wife, Kelly. Matt Dillon plays Bob and Kelly Lynch is great as Diane.

Bob and Diane have known each other since they were kids and have been getting in trouble for years.

They both have been to jail and they both love drugs.

      They meet up with another

couple, Rich and Nadine and the real fun begins.

Bob, Diane, Rick and Nadine are nothing more than junkies, and they rob drugstores in order to supply their habit.

You might be thinking, how in the heck can anyone rob a drugstore with today’s technology, cameras, alarm systems, etc.

? Well, Drugstore Cowboy was filmed in the 1980s and I assume ...

      • the movie’s setting was in the 1970s.

In that time, I can understand how easy it would have been for an addict to get into a drugstore and rob them of any drug the addict wanted.

Bob and Rick are pretty darn good at getting in and out, and they often use Diane and Nadine as decoys.

        There is a

lot more to this film than just watching some freaked out junkies getting high, because at almost halfway through, something terrible happens and Bob decides to go straight.

Diane can’t clean up with him, so the movie then becomes Bob’s journey to sobriety.

No, it’s not a happy ending AA movie.

Drugstore Cowboy is quite disturbing and the characters are so real.
