Leaving Las Vegas is a movie where an alcoholic man, who is in the end stage of his alcoholism, packs up and goes to live in a nasty hotel room in Las Vegas. The man, Ben, is played by Nicholas Cage.

Nicholas Cage is my favorite male actor and he did not disappoint me in the least in Leaving Las

      Vegas.

Nicholas Cage makes Ben totally believable as a drunk who is ready to die.

As he wanders the streets, Ben meets a woman, Sera, who is a prostitute.

She’s a streetwalker who gets beat up and abused on a regular basis.

Because both Sera and Ben are losers who don’t know what else to do, they find an attraction ...

      • in each other that they can only understand.

Sera takes care of Ben and I think the for a while she wants him to live and not give up.

They spend time together and Ben drinks and vomits and is sick and Sera goes out and whores her body for money.

She is raped and beaten, but she bravely keeps

        on going.

Leaving Las Vegas is totally vulgar, raw and completely fresh.

Nicholas Cage and Elizabeth Shue (Sera) are great together in this movie.

I think this is a stunning look at what really goes on the in the world, and how real people sometimes cope with problems, depression, low self esteem and depression.

Leaving Las Vegas is not for children.
