As you can most likely guess from the title, this is a review of the movie Beowulf & Grendel. This movie is a couple of years old, however I decided to try it out after seeing the absolutely disastrous Beowulf movie which just recently came out in theaters. After seeing the

story so thoroughly decimated, I decided that no Beowulf movie could be worse than that and so I turned to Beowulf & Grendel.

Surprisingly enough it wasn’t that bad at all. While there is some tweaking to the storyline, as is to be expected, the spirit of the story remained intact, and it ...

      • was quite an enjoyable film. The acting is decent enough and there are some fairly good action scenes. I would hazard a guess that this particular adaptation is somewhat inspired not only by the original Beowulf story but also the novel Grendel, a modern retelling of the tale. This is
actually a good thing, as it adds some depth to the proceedings while still keeping the original spirit of the story intact.

Beowulf & Grendel is by no means a masterpiece, but it is an enjoyable film, particularly if you are a Beowulf buff. It is certainly far better than the animated Beowulf.
