Now that the Ravens are in need of a head coach, let’s take a look at what the new guy in charge will inherit.

The Ravens are about 7 years removed from a Super Bowl title. The dominating defense that won them that title grew old and most of the cogs are

either gone or are shells of them former selves. They still talk the talk, but they aren’t able to walk the walk any more. And, they definitely don’t scare offenses the way they used to.

The team let Jamal Lewis walk only to discover Willis McGahee wasn’t an improvement at running back.

      • And, the quarterback situation is a joke. Steve McNair has taken too much punishment over the years to be effective any more. Unless the new head coach can perform miracles, Kyle Boller is a bust and Chris Redman probably will struggle to hold on to the third string spot. Outside of
TE Todd Heap, they don’t have a reliable receiver and I just don’t see this offense producing any more than they did under former coach Brian Billick.

A new coach might provide a change of direction for the team, but they need a lot more work if they intend on contending again.
