If you’re looking for a movie to remind you about the worst parts of the 1980s, then you’ll want to rent the science fiction movie Solarbabies.

While the concept behind the movie is a good one, it’s set in the future and water is scarce; something that creates a world similar to

the one you would see in Mad Max and results in the children being locked away in orphanages. The film also has a cast of characters who were seen in quite a few popular movies during that time. However, the execution of the film isn’t so good.

Essentially, it’s the same film ...

      • you’ve seen 100 times before. You have a bunch of teenaged kids who are trying to overcome all odds to defeat the system; even though everything and everyone is against them. It’s full of cheesy jokes and even cheesier fashions (apparently, in the 1980s, everyone thought the styles would last into
the future). I know this movie obtained a bit of a cult following, but it’s definitely not one I enjoyed. In fact, I thought about turning it off halfway through.

This might be a movie you would like. But, if you’re going to take that chance, I would suggest renting it before you buy it.
