For anyone who grows up in New York City, a museum is a way of life. I love the Met, MOMA, Guggenheim Museum and all of the rest of the well known ones, but I also like to find the more unusual.

And that is one thing you

can find in the Big Apple, the unusual.

The National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts.

It was founded in 1825 and is in an historic brownstone that could tell some stories of its own, if it could talk.

They are located at 5 East ...

      • 89th Street, right in the middle of Museum Mile.

        One thing.

Even though most of the museums in Manhattan are near one another, don’t rush through any of them to get to see as many as possible.

You lose the appreciation of each one.

        This is

one of the museums that focuses on one type of art.

        19 and 20th century American.

And they have every type of art from that period, including blue prints.

They are art too and it is so interesting to see how a house stated on a piece of paper.
