With Quincy Magoo, you either love him, or you hate him. I happen to love the old guy, voiced by Jim Backus, and his version of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol stands to me as one of my all-time favorite holiday classics.
Set within a Broadway stage presentation, complete with intermission and curtain call, Magoo as Ebenezer Scrooge is one of cinema’s best interpretations of the old miser visited technically
by four ghosts in one night. The story is the familiar one, but what appeals most to me is the characterizations, with familiar and much-loved cartoon voices.
The songs stand out most to me in this film.
