his was a brilliantly made entry, not only in the realm of comic book characters coming to the big screen, but in the Batman mythos itself. Sure, there were the previous films with Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer and George Clooney, all well acted. But, with the exception of the first film and maybe the second one, this franchise

was too campy, moving closer to the old television series starring Adam West and Burt Ward.

Then came Batman Begins. The atmosphere was gritty, the characters realistic. Dr. Crane was dark and spooky, with his nightmare gas producing haunting images in an already dark world.

Of course, advances in film technology allowed Batman’s stomping grounds to go further than all ...

      • the previous films. But this film added multiple new dimensions and characters. Lucious Fox reminded me of Q in the Bond films, supplying Bruce Wayne with all his cool gadgets. Alfred was well-played by Michael Caine.

The downside is that Katie Holmes will not be in the sequel. That, to me, always hurts a franchise that spends time and

money building up character dynamics. But I guess Tom knows best.

Liam Neeson is simply a stellar actor. Whether he is a good guy or a bad guy. His voice is melodic.

All in all, this is the finest of the Batman movies and I look forward to The Dark Knight and future installments. Christian Bale, to me, is Batman.
