The Inn is located off of a gravel road. You have to watch for the signs to the Inn. Since there are so many small lakes in this area, the roads are all curvy and it is absolutely necessary that you watch the signs to get there. I like driving up there because it is always so pretty. During the winter it is so pristine and quiet, the fall it is a calideascope of colors in the trees. Of course, the summer is pretty too.

The driveway to the Inn is about 200 yards long with large trees on either side of the drive. The end of the driveway has a big sign with a maple leaf saying ‘Maple Inn’. Once you are on the correct road, it is kind of hard to miss. The Inn is on a small private lake which only allows non motorized recreation. So not only are you way in the woods, but you are in the quiet of the woods.

I like this because, the ideas is to get away from things, not to be right in the middle of it all again with all kinds of people. The Inn is made of field stone with cedar shingles. It looks like something from the 1920’s - Al Capone’s era.

There are several benches in the front of the Inn with ornamental grasses and mums. The front of the property is mostly trees. It is one of the things I love about the place because it is so calming to hear the birds sing and the wind blow through the trees. Many times I have had the windows open in my room just to listen to that.

The lobby of the Inn is all dark wood and is poorly lit. There is a small bar close to the lobby and my guess is they have it all so dark for the bars atmosphere. The floors in the lobby and bar were a grey/blue stone, very pretty too bad it ...

      • didn’t have better lighting. Since the lobby pointed toward the bar, it was really very plain. Just a place to register and a small stairway to the 6 rooms upstairs

My room was very nice since my first impression of the place was not all that good. It had a dark gold carpet in it and looked very rich. The large oak bed had a carved headboard of flowers and birds. They were big into antique pictures of the loggers, log piles and horses of the early 1900s. There was an antique phonograph in my room and an old spittoon which was converted into a flower vase. The dresser was dark oak with a swinging mirror on it. There was also an old time vanity in the room. That was very pretty. The bed had a white goose down comforter on it with pretty candlewicking on the fabric. The pillows were of goose down andThe furniture had covers on them of different colors which

I thought was a wonderful idea of covering things if the furniture was to worn to be displayed. The windows had lace curtains on them of a rosy color. The walls were a faux finish of tan and white.

The bathroom was pretty, a woman’s bathroom. It’s fixtures were very scrolly. There was a claw tub and a walk in shower. The walls were a tan with floral painted borders. The floor was a brown tile and the walk in shower was multi colored brown tiles. The glass door had an etching of a pheasant on it, very pretty. The towels were red, yellow and orange striped, it was a nice contrast. Good shower pressure and nice amenities in the room - like soap, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.

The breakfast was waffles and eggs and coffee or tea. It was nothing special, but was very nice. I was able to have my breakfast delivered to my room. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
