Aguirre is a film by the german visual master Werner Herzog, and features the astonishing actor Klaus Kinski in one of his major roles. The story is

about the explorer Aguirre and his team a couple of hundred years ago who went to South America along the Amazon river to discover new land. It’s a very mysterious film to me that doesn’t seem to have a discernible “point” to it, but again, that is the case with many of Herzog’s films.

They can be very pretentious at times, but still I think he is quite clear about what he wants to say with sometimes. That is the case
with my favorite of all his films called Kaspar Hauser. Aguirre is an interesting visual journey through the soul of an explorer, but mostly so because of the amazing Klaus Kinski.
