This is a handy, affordable little DVD Player. I picked mine up a year ago for only $40 Canadian at Wal-Mart, and it hasn’t failed me yet (unlike the General Electric DVD Player I had

Its a fairly basic DVD player, nothing spectacular, but it gets the job done.

One nice bonus is that it plays MP3 files as well as CDs, so I never have a problem listening ...

      • to my music.

It also comes in a variety of colors, so you can pick the one that is most appealing to you and will fit in best with the rest of your home entertainment

        set up.

The remote matches as well, and is slimlined like the rest of the player.

All in all this is a cheap, functional DVD player.

        I quite enjoy mine.

        An excellent buy.

I own a Regent dvd player model dvd-1000 that we purchased from wallmart last year, it was manufactured october 2006. This was just a handy little dvd player for our spare tv. The problem is that it almost caught fire in the house while not in use. It just started making snapping sounds and smelling like burnt electronics. I dont know if there are any recalls on this product but I would not leave it plugged in if going away. hopefully nobody else is having this problem. It was very inexpensive but wouldn`t be much of a deal if it cost someone thier house.

The DVD-1000 is not part of a recall, but it’s definitely defective, and will need to be repaired or replaced.

I have a regent dvd1000 player, and recently, the movies that I`ve played literally stop playing at 53-60 minutes. It`s not just a pause. The play doesn`t resume. I`ve checked out the disks on my laptop, and they play through. Any troubleshooting ideas??? glorymary

It sounds like an over heat problem. Check to make sure the vents are clear of dust. If they are dusty, unplug the unit and use a vacuum cleaner to gently vacuum the vents clean. Also, do not place the unit on top of your cable box or TV set. If this does not help, and you feel the need to get rid of the unit, I would be interested in the remote. I have one of these units and it appears my granddaughter threw out the remote. Good luck. gute564[at]

Hi. I also have one of these DVD/CD players, and it worked fine with my old TV, but now that I have a LCD Flat screen, I can no longer get any sound. I have the correct wires hooked up, but when I play a DVD, the sound from the TV comes on, not the movie I’m trying to play.

The picture comes through for the movie on the DVD player, but not the sound. I’ve checked the sound through the DVD remote and although I have it up to the max, no sound comes through from the movie.

Is it possible that the sound is locked on the DVD player, and if so, is there a way to unlock it?

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you, Kathy
