Mammoth Caves, with its over 300 miles worth of caverns, is truly any spelunkers dream come true. But even if you aren’t a diehard cavern explorer, there is still great interest in Mammoth Caves.

First discovered by whites in 1798, it became home to a little

underground city, where even church services were held.

Taking the historic tour of the Caves gives you a fascinating look into the original exploration of these caves, as well as the people who lived there and the Native Americans who had lived there centuries before.

      For ...

      • the more adventurous there are also other much more indepth tours.

Not being a spelunker myself, I didn’t go on these tours.

But the historic tour of Mammoth Caves is certainly fascinating and beautiful one.

The most exciting part of the tour comes near the

end in Mammoth Dome, when you must walk up flight after flight of stairs from the bottom to the top of this 192 foot high dome, all the while experiencing the beauty of the cavern.

If you ever get the chance, visit Mammoth Caves.

        You won’t regret it.
